Sylacauga Wedding
Sylacauga is a city in Talladega County, Alabama, United States. At the 2000 census the population was 12,616.
The first documented case of an object from outer space hitting a person happened in Sylacauga. On November 30, 1954, a 4 kg meteorite crashed through the roof of a house, bounced off a radio, and badly bruised Ann Hodges.
It is the birthplace of actor and singer Jim Nabors and actor Jonathan Bearden. Sylacauga is located at 331042N, 86154W (33.178360, -86.251068)GR1.
According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 48.3 km (18.6 mi). 48.0 km (18.5 mi) of it is land and 0.3 km (0.1 mi) of it (0.59%) is water.
Sylacauga is known for some of the whitest marble in the world. Giuseppe Moretti, sculptor of the Vulcan statue in Birmingham, AL, praised it as rivaling the marble in Carrera, Italy. Sylacauga marble was used in the construction of the United States Supreme Court building and several other monuments and buildings around the country.
